Job Title: CDL A Driver

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and skilled CDL A driver to join our Transportation Team at Gold Star Foods. As a critical support role, you will be responsible for transporting goods to routes in a commercial vehicle, making deliveries and pickups to and from school sites and warehouses, and communicating with management team, and dispatchers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely Operate a Commercial Vehicle: Ensure safe transportation of goods and passengers by adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Load and Unload Cargo: Load and unload cargo from the vehicle, ensuring accurate and efficient delivery.
  • Read Locations and Road Maps: Navigate through routes and locations using maps and GPS systems.
  • Basic Truck Maintenance: Perform routine checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Inspect Vehicles for Mechanical and Safety Issues: Regularly inspect the vehicle for any mechanical or safety issues before and after each trip.
  • Meet Delivery Schedules: Ensure timely delivery of goods and meet schedules while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Properly Track and Document Driving Logs: Accurately record driving hours and logs on an ELD system.
  • Report Any Issues or Incidents: Inform dispatchers of any issues or incidents that may occur during the trip.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Driver's License: Possess a valid CDL A license.
  • Ability to Handle Physical Workload: Be able to lift and move cargo as required.
  • Strong Work Ethic: Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to safe driving practices.
  • Commercial Driver's License, DOT Medical Certificate, and Motor Vehicle Record: Possess a valid CDL A license, DOT medical certificate, and a clean motor vehicle record.
  • 10-Year DMV Driving Record History: Possess a 10-year DMV driving record history with no more than 2 points.
  • Touch-Freight Required: Be able to handle touch-freight as required.
  • Must Be at Least 21 Years of Age: Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Pass a DOJ and Criminal Background Check: Pass a DOJ and criminal background check.
  • Speak and Read English Satisfactorily: Be able to converse with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.

Education/Experience:

  • Driving Class A: Possess at least 1 year of experience in driving a Class A vehicle.
  • CDL A: Possess a valid CDL A license.
  • Pass a Driver's Road Test or Equivalent: Pass a driver's road test or equivalent.
