Job Overview

Position Summary

The role of the Precision Machining Specialist involves executing intricate and repetitive deburring tasks, interpreting technical drawings, and efficiently setting up and utilizing all necessary deburring machinery and hand tools. This position also includes polishing and cleaning components, inspecting finished parts, operating material handling equipment, and performing assembly tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Interpret complex aerospace specifications and blueprints.
  2. Utilize various bench equipment, machine tools, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to polish, clean, break edges, and achieve a matte finish on precision-engineered components made from diverse materials according to specified tolerances.
  4. Deburr and smooth manufacturing parts for safety, aesthetic, and functional purposes using an array of tools such as bore scopes, angle hole machines, drill presses, and hand grinders.
  5. Execute deburring and hand finishing tasks as per specifications using established methods, machinery, and tooling.
  6. Conduct rework assignments as necessary.
  7. Employ a wide range of basic deburring and hand finishing tools, both electric and pneumatic, including right angle grinders, die grinders, and orbital sanders.
  8. Perform additional tasks as assigned, which may include secondary operations on various components, washing parts, transporting materials within the facility, loading and unloading machinery, and operating band saws.
  9. Position parts and subassemblies accurately using templates or by interpreting measurements.
  10. Undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  1. Ability to understand and execute detailed oral or written instructions.
  2. Experience in setting up and operating band saws, milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, and hoist/crane equipment.
  3. Proficient in the use of hand tools such as drill motors, grinders, and basic measuring instruments.
  4. Capability to lift and carry objects weighing between 15 to 50 pounds.

Preferred:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of six years of experience in a Bench/Deburr role, particularly within an Aerospace or Manufacturing environment.
