Job Summary

Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking a skilled Music Therapist to join our team. As a Music Therapist, you will provide direct service to hospice patients and their families, conducting assessments and providing interventions that meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide music therapy interventions to patients and families in homes, inpatient units, and alternative settings.
  • Consult with referring teams and other Expressive Therapists to assess patient needs and prioritize interventions.
  • Participate in transdisciplinary team conferences and educate hospice staff about the role of music therapy in patient care.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, and provide bereavement follow-up to family members as needed.
  • Assist with facilitating support groups and conducting in-service programs.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Board Certification in Music Therapy.
  • At least 1 year of experience in music therapy or a music therapy internship in hospice care.
  • A soothing and pleasant singing voice, and proficiency on an accompanying instrument.
  • Ability to utilize music therapy techniques to address a range of patient needs, including pain, anxiety, and depression.
  • Knowledge of child development stages and awareness of children's music literature and age-appropriate music activities.
  • Ability to create a safe environment and mode of expression through music.
