POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Planning Analyst role within the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) division serves as a key contributor supporting the FP&A Manager in areas such as Planning and Strategy, Operations Management, and Business Development. This position is tasked with analyzing actual financial outcomes to assess their alignment with forecasted or planned performance, offering insights and recommendations to enhance performance outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Financial Planning Analyst will engage in a variety of analytic activities aimed at confirming that current initiatives are yielding the desired results, pinpointing new opportunities for improvement, and enhancing the overall forecasting capabilities of various Corporate or Operational functions. This role will involve collaboration with different levels of management, including executive leadership, to present findings and strategic action plans.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Assist in the formulation of the annual Financial Operating Plan and long-term strategic financial outlook.
  • Oversee the financial reporting and consolidation processes.
  • Provide analytical support for corporate development activities, including financial modeling and post-acquisition integration.
  • Identify and analyze trends affecting sales and cost structures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial practices beneficial to the organization.
  • Prepare specialized analyses for senior management as required.
  • Support M&A due diligence and integration efforts.
  • Conduct competitor financial analysis.
  • Engage in 6Q Forecasting and Planning, focusing on EBITDA tracking.
  • Assist mill controllers in the planning process.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel will be minimal, as this role primarily supports analysis for a corporate group or a Mill Operations VP, most of whom are based in the Corporate Office. However, travel may be necessary for the analyst supporting Business Development, depending on project requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Specific responsibilities will vary based on business needs within FP&A and may include:

Planning and Strategy:

  • Deployment of Strategic Map/Balanced Scorecard/KPI.
  • Facilitation of the Annual Planning process.
  • Management of the 6Q/Forecasting process.
  • Short-term forecasting activities.

Operations Management:

  • Preparation of Monthly Financial Data reports.
  • Conducting Pricing and Profitability Analysis.
  • Performing Cost Analysis to support SIOP.
  • Executing Location and Operational Analysis for Mills and Downstream operations.
  • Analyzing Working Capital in collaboration with Credit and Accounts Payable.

Business Development:

  • Engagement in Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestitures.
  • Conducting Competitor and Market Analysis.
  • Performing Location CAPEX Analysis in support of Engineering initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements:

  • 6 to 10 years of financial experience in a relevant industry.
  • Proven experience in leading process improvements.
  • Experience with annual budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Industrial Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
  • Minimal travel requirement of 0%-5%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial analysis.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems.
  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud or similar forecasting tools.
  • Knowledge of SQL or other data analytics languages is advantageous.
