Position: Charge Nurse – Emergency Department
The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising all nursing functions associated with patient care. This role involves establishing standards for precise documentation of patients' symptoms, responses, and progress, while coordinating patient care to ensure seamless service based on clinical nursing requirements. Furthermore, the Charge Nurse provides nursing care to patients as needed to uphold clinical competencies or evaluate specific patient needs.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; preference for candidates with a bachelor's or master's degree in nursing
- Current licensure and registration as a professional nurse in Illinois
- Two to five years of relevant clinical experience
- Proven leadership skills, ability to remain calm in emergencies, and strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Builds and maintains rapport with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff while safeguarding patient confidentiality
- Completion of a basic EKG competency course and proficiency in telemetry patient care
- Previous experience as a Charge Nurse or in a comparable leadership position
- Competent in basic life support and intravenous (IV) insertion
- Exceptional attention to detail, outstanding organizational capabilities, and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to thrive under pressure and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
