Radio Broadcast Engineer

Job Summary

KBOE Radio is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Board Operator to join our team. As a key member of our broadcast operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of on-air programming, maintaining technical quality, and supporting the delivery of high-quality audio content to our listeners.

About the Role

This role requires strong time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for operating the audio console, regulating program timing, and monitoring technical quality. Additionally, you will assist with adjusting signal and programming content to meet federally mandated broadcast standards and digitally record on-air programming for playback.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the audio console for remote programming as assigned.
• Regulate program timing, operate live and syndicated programming, and play commercials.
• Maintain technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on-air programming from master control room.
• Censor live programs and delete words/phrases not permitted on air to protect the station's license.
• Execute playlists for server, tape, or simulcast programming.
• Assist with adjusting signal and programming content to ensure transmission meets federally mandated broadcast standards.
• Digitally record on-air programming for accurate playback.
• Check studio equipment for proper functioning and notify the Program Director or Engineer of technical malfunctions affecting quality of the broadcast.
• Handle emergency inserts (e.g., news updates, breaking stories, alert system tests, etc.).

Requirements

• Ability to learn operation of Smarts Broadcast Skylla digital on-air automation system and Adobe Audition for audio editing.
• Demonstrate strong ability for time management and attention to detail.
• Able to work without close supervision.
• Required shifts include evenings and weekends.
• Able to work additional shifts as needed.
• Functions well in a fast-paced environment with tight time frames and multiple demands.
• Passion for flawless execution.
• Works well in a team environment.
