Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

Join our team as an Early Childhood Educator at Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action Committee Inc. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate professional to provide high-quality early child development programs.

Job Summary

The Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for teaching one or two classes with a mixed group of three-five-year-old children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child development or early childhood education and be able to implement educational activities and services consistent with the Head Start Performance Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a safe, developmentally appropriate, and inviting learning environment.
  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate, multi-cultural curriculum in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with the Education Coordinator on children with suspected or diagnosed disabilities and on children with classroom behaviors concerns.
  • Engage with children and their parents in a respectful and meaningful manner.
  • Accurately complete and maintain all necessary documentation.
Requirements
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education or equivalent discipline.
  • Two (2) years of experience under supervision working with a group of children in a licensed early childhood program (preferred).
  • Good math skills, analytical skills, and skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, or other software applications to retrieve data, create spreadsheets, and reports.
  • Must always maintain confidentiality.
Working Conditions

The Early Childhood Educator will work in a fast-paced environment with moderate physical effort and ability to lift pre-school children and/or up to 50 lbs. unassisted. The ideal candidate will be able to participate fully in a program for active youngsters, including lifting of young children, getting up and down from the floor, lively outdoor activities, and moving furniture.
