Job Summary:

Intermountain Healthcare is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join our Float Pool team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing patient-centered care and supporting our surgical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients, ensuring a safe and efficient operating room environment.
  • Assemble, organize, and complete case carts according to doctor's preference lists, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide appropriate instrumentation, suture, and supplies as requested, and maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure.
  • Count sponges, needles, blades, and instruments using proper technique and established policy, ensuring patient safety and quality care.
  • Assist in maintenance and care of specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Handle specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials, and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice.
  • Assist with timely turnover of rooms, including clean up, replacement, and restocking of supplies and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • May be required to float to other departments within the scope of competency and qualifications, based on business need.
  • May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a formal, accredited surgical technologist program is required.
  • NCCT Surgical Technologist certification (TS-C) or NBSTSA certification is required.
  • Registered in state of practice as a Surgical Technologist is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire.
  • 1 year OR scrubbing experience is preferred.
  • 1 year clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.
