Job Summary

As a Certified Nursing Assistant at Acadia Healthcare, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a behavioral health setting. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Night Shift Nursing Assistant.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment under the direction of a charge nurse or supervisor.
Complete patient observation rounds in a timely manner, addressing patient safety through regular checks and interventions as needed.
Maintain patient rooms in a clean and uncluttered state, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
Assist with transferring, lifting, raising, or turning patients, prioritizing their safety and comfort.
Obtain patient vital signs, height, and weight as assigned, ensuring accurate documentation and communication with the healthcare team.
Identify yourself to patients and visitors promptly, responding to their requests in a timely and professional manner.
Engage with patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals, promoting physical and mental wellness.
Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner, attempting to understand the source of their distress and providing support as needed.
Apply de-escalation techniques to manage patient emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment, assisting with seclusion and restraints when necessary.
Monitor behavioral improvements and reinforce positive behaviors, reporting changes and responses to treatment to the healthcare team.
Reinforce skills patients learn from nurses, physicians, and therapists, promoting improved physical and mental wellness.
Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy, performing related CNA duties such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, moving patients, or changing linens.
Provide transfer or transportation for patients or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff members as required.
Adhere to work schedules and overall attendance, following established policies, procedures, and standards for patient care.
Clean units as assigned by professional staff, including equipment such as beds, IV poles, and wheelchairs.
Document timely, accurate, and appropriate clinical information in patient medical records.
Collaborate with other staff members in working with the population of the facility to treat and rehabilitate patients.
Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers at all times.
Acknowledge and work to resolve patient complaints when needs are not met, prioritizing patient safety.
Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, family members, guests, and other members of the healthcare team.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Additional education or training resulting in certification as a nursing assistant per state requirements required.
Previous experience in a behavioral health setting, knowledge, and experience working with the population of the facility preferred.
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or license per state requirements.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
