Job Overview

LOD Staffing is seeking a Core Assembly Technician responsible for assessing core and coil insulation and winding in accordance with specified work orders. This role is situated in the winding shop and requires the ability to stand for the duration of the shift.

Key Responsibilities

Examine work order documentation, evaluate core assembly and insulation to confirm compliance with specifications. Construct brackets for core assembly to facilitate reattachment to transformers. Accurately determine the turn-to-turn ratio for the core and take precise measurements for bracket assembly. Conduct quality assurance on personal work to ensure readiness for final assembly. Implement necessary corrections on core assembly when specifications are not met. Perform additional tasks as required, which may include assisting with loading or unloading transformers, shop upkeep, and stacking sheet metal. Training will be provided for this position.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Mechanically adept
  • Experience with air tools
  • Ability to comprehend and execute work orders
  • Commitment to safety standards and regulations
  • Capability to lift 15 to 25 lbs.
  • Steel-toed footwear required
  • Safety glasses are mandatory and provided
  • Proficiency in English is essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in welding and brazing with aluminum/copper is advantageous
  • Background in a mechanical field is preferred
  • Experience in a non-climate-controlled shop environment is beneficial

Work Environment

Work may occur outdoors, with some positions indoors. Workers may encounter distracting or uncomfortable noise levels and extreme temperatures. Exposure to contaminants, such as fumes from paints or sealers, may occur. The role involves operating hand tools and machinery, requiring manual dexterity, communication, and repetitive motion.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be capable of standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, crawling, squatting/kneeling, bending, pushing, and pulling frequently.
  • Ability to use upper and lower extremities to transport 25 to 50 pounds, including pressing against something to force it in a forward, downward, or outward position or dragging, hauling 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist and bending legs at the knees while moving extremities in any direction.
  • Capacity to withstand physical demands, including remaining in a stationary and/or standing position for most of the day.
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas verbally, especially when detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately and promptly.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.

  • Sense of sound (ability to respond to alarms and signals)
