Key Responsibilities
  • Perform work individually, as a member of a single craft crew, or a multi-craft work crew, to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Comply with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Consistently exceed Journeyman standards, demonstrating expertise in shipboard skills and knowledge of marine fitting, including compound shapes.
  • Work from yard specifications, work orders, and applicable working drawings and blueprints, applying shipboard skills to ensure accurate and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Research and suggest solutions to conditions requiring fault reports, demonstrating problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Perform blasting and painting operations, diagnostics, rebuild or replacement, and alignment of various styles of pumps, as well as dry dock block building.
  • Properly care for and safely use hand and power tools, ensuring equipment is in good working condition.
  • Coordinate the performance and completion of job specifications, working effectively with colleagues to meet project goals.
  • Demonstrate ability to do basic shipboard layout, ensuring accurate and efficient completion of tasks.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 5-10 years relevant work experience, with proven skills, work history, and/or applicable education considered in lieu of work experience.
  • OSHA 10 certification and four-hour fire watch certification.
  • HAZWOPER - First Responder Awareness Level certification.
Working Conditions

The Mechanic Journeyman - Facilities will work in a fast-paced industrial environment, with frequent interaction with colleagues and occasional work in confined spaces. The role requires the ability to work in a noisy environment and from heights, with a focus on safety and quality.
