Job Summary

The Mount Sinai Health System invites applications for a Nurse Manager position. As a key member of our team, this individual will be responsible for leading the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional who can provide leadership in areas such as clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, supply chain, budgeting, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, and internal and external regulatory requirements.

About the Position

  • This role involves collaborating with multiple professionals to support and coordinate patient care delivery.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Nursing Clinical Director, unit Dyad partner, and staff to ensure that the Service/Unit maintains high standards of patient care and meets the needs of patients and families as well as the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of administrative and operational duties of a 23-bed Progressive Care, EMU, and Stepdown unit, managing 45 FTEs including RNs, assistant staff, and clerical staff.
  • Staff management, recruitment, retention, labor relations, employee performance, and evaluation, as well as staff education and schedules.
  • Performance and quality improvement projects, internal and external regulatory requirements, maintenance of OMH/JCAHO Standards, implementation, and evaluation of Quality Performance Initiatives.
  • Patient experience/satisfaction and maintenance of supply chain and unit budget.
  • Assessment of staff competency and provision of consistent meaningful feedback.
  • Leadership in nursing practice using the Professional Practice Model of Relationship Centered Care and the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing for promoting patient experience.
  • Chairing department committees and participating in hospital committees as assigned.
  • Preparation and review of operational reports and schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Utilization of nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and new programs/procedures as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required; Master's degree in nursing or healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Licensed registered nurse with current registration in New York State.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA preferred.
  • Three years of relevant previous clinical competence in Critical Care, Telemetry, and Medsurg. Neuro and Epilepsy Monitoring (EMU) experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of Charge Nurse/Supervisory experience preferred.
