Animal Shelter Assistant

The Mohave County Animal Shelter is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Shelter Technician to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to the animals in our shelter.

• Clean and maintain the animal shelter, including washing floors, disinfecting kennels, and performing general maintenance tasks.
• Provide basic care for the shelter animals, including feeding, exercising, and administering medication as needed.
• Assist with animal evaluations, monitor animal behavior, and oversee general maintenance of the shelter.
• Implant microchips, administer vaccines and dewormers, and assist with humane euthanasia as needed.
• Assist with ill and aggressive animals, as well as behavior assessments and shelter animal pairing.
• Dispense medication, perform repairs and upkeep of building and grounds, and maintain accuracy of animal inventory database.
• Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.

• High School Diploma/GED (General Education Degree)
• Six (6) months of experience working with animals in a veterinary hospital, humane society, or other animal facility
• OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to animals, chemicals, and potentially hazardous situations. The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a variety of weather conditions.
