Academic Coordinator of Africana Studies

Wilkes University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Africana Studies and serve as the coordinator of the Africana Studies minor.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and leadership for the minor program, including working with university chairs to engage instructors, developing new courses, and overseeing program assessment and review of curriculum.

The coordinator will also be responsible for publicizing the minor, recruiting students, advising and mentoring minors, engaging in outreach to student organizations, and facilitating extracurricular and co-curricular programs.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in Africana Studies or a related discipline and be able to teach required courses for the minor, including Introduction to Africana Studies. A Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline is required, and the position will begin in August 2025.
