Role Responsibilities:
- The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a vital caregiver responsible for a designated group of patients, delivering care through the application of the nursing process and utilizing available resources effectively.
Key Duties:
- Execute all responsibilities as required by the unit, adhering to the specific scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theoretical frameworks relevant to the area of practice.
- Maintain precise and current documentation of nursing care to ensure seamless information flow within the healthcare team.
- Conduct initial assessments upon patient admission and formulate appropriate care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Execute care plans, nursing interventions, and patient care protocols.
- Adjust care plans based on ongoing evaluations.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and incidents.
- Engage in constructive communication to resolve issues with colleagues.
- Provide feedback to support the professional growth of peers and collaborate with colleagues to enhance knowledge.
- Recognize personal learning needs and proactively seek solutions.
- Meet all departmental competency requirements.
Department-Specific Functions:
- Receive patient Bedside Shift Report from the outgoing RN, ensuring patient input is included and confirming a safe patient environment.
- Delegate patient care tasks to assigned Health Care Technicians (HCTs) and verify task completion throughout the shift.
- Document essential RN patient care activities such as assessments, vital sign interpretations, and ensure completion of physician orders.
- Administer medications while adhering to the patient 5 Rights: Right Patient, Right Medication, Right Route, Right Dose, and Right Time.
- Prioritize patient safety, implementing measures such as fall precautions and pressure ulcer prevention.
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude to foster a healthy work environment.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights to ensure effective triage and fulfill patient requests.
- Utilize critical thinking to assess patient conditions and make informed decisions regarding changes in status.
- Collaborate effectively within the healthcare team to enhance patient care coordination and safety.
- Manage time efficiently to facilitate quick admissions and discharges for patients.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant nursing experience.
