About the Role:

The East Bay Regional Park District's Police Department is dedicated to serving a vast community of over 25 million visitors annually. Our jurisdiction encompasses 73 diverse parks across a sprawling 1,750 square mile area, covering all of Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We are a fully operational POST-recognized law enforcement agency, comprised of 71 sworn officers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct uniformed patrols using various modes of transportation including automobiles, ATVs, motorcycles, boats, helicopters, horseback, or on foot.
  • Provide assistance and information to park visitors regarding park facilities and regulations.
  • Engage with the community to ensure public safety and welfare.
  • Respond to radio calls and initiate police services as necessary.
  • Investigate traffic incidents and document injuries.
  • Enforce laws and ordinances, issuing warnings and citations, and making arrests when warranted.
  • Conduct investigations into criminal activities and prepare detailed reports.
  • Testify in court as required and prepare cases for prosecution.
  • Administer first aid and perform rescue operations when necessary.
  • Manage traffic and crowd control during events and emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed the POST Basic Academy to qualify for the position.
  • A valid California driver's license is required for both initial and ongoing employment.
  • Ability to work under various weather conditions and adapt to changing environments.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check, including polygraph, psychological, and medical evaluations.
