Job Summary:

The Endodontic Specialist is responsible for diagnosing and treating dental issues related to the pulp and root structures of teeth. This includes performing root canal treatments, apicoectomies, and other specialized procedures to save teeth and relieve pain. The Endodontic Specialist works closely with general dentists, oral surgeons, and other dental professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough clinical examinations and interprets radiographs to diagnose dental issues, focusing particularly on the pulp and surrounding tissues.
  • Performs root canal therapy, including complex cases, and other endodontic treatments like apicoectomy and treating dental trauma.
  • Diagnoses and treats tissue and nerve issues through root canal therapy and other methods.
  • Uses local anesthesia to ensure patient comfort during endodontic procedures.
  • Addresses dental emergencies, focusing on pain relief and saving teeth through endodontic treatments.
  • Works in collaboration with other dental specialists for comprehensive patient care, particularly in cases requiring advanced endodontic treatments.

Requirements:

  • Must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Dental Medicine (DMD) from a school approved by the Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association (ADA) or other dental school.
  • Must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in any U.S. State or Territory.
  • Must obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; exposure to contagious diseases or irritant chemicals.

Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
