The OD-ID Grinder is a critical role at Precision Gears, Inc. responsible for the manufacture of parts per plant specifications in an accurate and timely manner using manual and CNC grinding machines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set up, program, and operate both CNC grinding machines and manual grinding machines.
  2. Inspect completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  3. Clean the work area.
  4. Perform minor machine maintenance, including greasing and oiling.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in using hand measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gages.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings.
  • Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to perform metric conversions.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Prior machinist experience and mechanical aptitude are a plus.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and achieve aggressive goals.
  • Open to working overtime as necessary.
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include occasional walking, standing, sitting, and talking. The incumbent will frequently use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The incumbent will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 25 pounds, such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of the work area.
