We are seeking a highly skilled Parish Organist to join our team at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, San Diego. As a key member of our music ministry, you will play a vital role in leading the faithful in full and active participation in the sacred liturgy.
This part-time position requires strong sight-reading skills, proficiency in playing the organ/piano, and comfort with both homophonic and polyphonic music. You will work closely with our Music Director and collaborate with various choirs and ensembles to ensure a seamless and uplifting musical experience for our parishioners.
Responsibilities- Main accompanist for two Sunday Masses (8:00am and 9:45am)
- Regular rehearsals with Schola and Traditional choirs (approximately one time per week on Thursday evenings)
- Preparation and practice of music outside of scheduled rehearsals
- Familiarity with liturgical elements and order of the Holy Mass
- Enthusiasm for sacred music and serving in liturgical ministry
- Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience in music ministry at a Catholic parish
- Sight reading proficiency, thorough knowledge of organ/piano playing, and comfort with various musical styles
- Active, practicing Catholic with a passion for using musical talent to glorify God and enhance the beauty of liturgies
- Familiarity with current parish liturgies, including live-streamed services (available online)
Pianist: $30-33/hour; Organist: $37-40/hour
