Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner position provides leadership and direction to the medical unit and its daily clinical operations. The Nurse Practitioner works as an adjunct to and in collaboration with the Population Health Team and Physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine and assess the health status of patients by reviewing records, taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
  • Initiate, perform, and direct other nurses to perform screening and diagnostic tests, including blood draws, cultures, skin tests, pap smears, and other procedures appropriate for patient's condition.
  • Plan and oversee on-going treatment and clinical management of patients in stable phases of chronic illness, and general health maintenance of non-chronic, non-acute patients.
  • Inform, counsel, and instruct individuals and families on their specific health problems, test results, and general health-related matters such as nutrition, birth control, social behavior, growth and development, aging, and substance abuse.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioner certification in the State of Maryland.
  • Completion of an approved internship program.
  • Completion of at least two (2) years of approved residency program.
  • Maryland Medical License and State/Federal DEA.
  • Must be a Board Eligible or Board Certified.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.

Two (2) or more years of Nurse Practitioner experience in ambulatory and/or clinical area of interest with at least one year in a leadership role.
