Job Title: Director of Exceptional Children Curriculum and Instruction

Job Summary:

The Director of Exceptional Children Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for leading, planning, coordinating, and implementing curriculum and programming services for students with disabilities. This position requires a strong understanding of federal, state, and local policies related to exceptional children, as well as the ability to assess the needs of students and develop effective programs to meet those needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement curriculum and programming services for students with disabilities
  • Assess the needs of students and develop effective programs to meet those needs
  • Lead and coordinate the work of staff members to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for services offered
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and make recommendations for improvements
  • Collaborate with other departments within the school system to ensure seamless delivery of services
  • Supervise and conduct personnel administration duties for staff members
  • Attend district meetings and professional training opportunities as required

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education
  • NC Teaching License (preferably in Special Education)
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as an administrator or program specialist in programs that service children with disabilities
  • Experience in supervision

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. The position also requires the ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds occasionally, and/or in excess of 20 pounds frequently.
