The role involves performing expert maintenance, diagnostic assessments, and repair tasks on both automotive and non-automotive machinery, which includes hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as hoisting apparatus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completes necessary documentation and utilizes fleet management software to keep accurate records of all services rendered.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on vehicles and machinery, including oil changes, chassis lubrication, and safety inspections to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Diagnoses and rectifies issues across all systems of municipal vehicles and equipment.
  • Employs specialized diagnostic tools and fleet software to troubleshoot and repair vehicles effectively.
  • Installs, repairs, and fine-tunes two-way radio systems, including microphones and antennas.
  • Prepares vehicles for state inspections, ensuring adherence to all regulatory standards.
  • Executes State Inspections on all municipal vehicles.
  • Prioritizes personal and team safety by adhering to established safety protocols and wearing appropriate safety gear during operations.
  • Provides assistance in snow and ice removal efforts or other emergencies as designated by the municipality.
  • Guarantees the secure storage of hazardous materials in compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining all required documentation.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent, along with additional training or certification, is necessary for this position.
  • One to three years of relevant experience in onboard diagnostics, heavy and medium truck repair, and mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems maintenance.
