Job Overview

ProCare Therapy is in search of a proficient Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate effective communication in educational environments. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of interpreting experience and will play a crucial role in bridging communication gaps between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for various educational settings.
  • Support communication during meetings, classes, and school events.
  • Uphold confidentiality and impartiality in all interpreting tasks.
  • Adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct as established by relevant professional organizations.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance interpreting skills.
  • Collaborate with educators and speech pathologists to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Assist in monitoring progress towards IEP goals and provide support to families regarding educational strategies.
  • Work directly with preschool students to facilitate their learning and communication needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language or Educational Interpreting.
  • Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC).
  • Strong proficiency in both ASL and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
