Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $65,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. In addition to a comprehensive compensation package, we offer a range of benefits, including shift differential, never-on-call schedules, tuition assistance, and a choice between two medical plans with prescription drug benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the veterinary team in providing compassionate and efficient care to emergency patients, including patient restraint, vital sign collection, and comfort measures.
  • Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and medications required for emergency procedures and treatments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized emergency treatment area, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, changing bedding, and restocking supplies.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures, such as radiography, laboratory tests, and sample collection, under the guidance of the veterinary team.
  • Aid the veterinary team in administering treatments, medications, and intravenous fluids as directed.
  • Accurately document patient information, treatments, and observations in medical records.
  • Provide excellent communication to pet owners, answering inquiries, relaying messages, and updating patient care as directed by the veterinary team.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience working in a veterinary emergency, ICU, or critical care setting.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary emergency procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with the veterinary team and pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance to patients in distress.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail to accurately report patient behavior and condition to the veterinary team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally with or without accommodation.
