Essential Functions:

As a Surgical Nurse, you will perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments. You will also document patient care given, monitor and record patient condition, and communicate with the care team, physician, patient, and family.

You will collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. You will evaluate learning needs of patients and families and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances throughout the perioperative process.

You will work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients and assess and care for surgical patients throughout the intraoperative process. You will assist with preoperative preparation and postoperative care, operate specialized equipment for procedures, and maintain a safe surgical environment.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) with an active Kentucky RN license. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Required Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse - Kentucky State Licensure or Compact Licensure Required.
