Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse to join our team at the Ohio Department of Commerce. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medication and monitor patient medication compliance
  • Perform treatments and assist with nurse's sick call
  • Assist with doctor's sick call and perform or assist with nursing management of chronic care clinics
  • Respond to emergencies and provide emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Perform subjective and objective assessment of patients and collect vital signs
  • Document all findings and prepare patients for release or transfer to other facilities
  • Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services
  • Participate in work-related training and institution training exercises
  • Provide assistance to other healthcare staff and investigate and document problem areas or areas of concern
  • Review shift report from preceding shift(s) and assume duties of other nurses during absences
  • Counsel and educate patients regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and provide training and work direction to new nurses and other healthcare staff
  • Serve as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding healthcare matters
  • Provide orientation and training for new healthcare personnel and assume the duties of shift charge as assigned
  • Perform or assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies and assist ancillary staff as needed
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio
  • Strong nursing skills and experience in urgent and emergency care
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent patient care
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff
