Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

United Church Homes, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the community is maintained in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operation of maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry services
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to maintain the community at its highest level of physical function
  • Coordinate maintenance, cleaning, and repair work as required/requested
  • Ensure proper functioning of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential hazards
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and replacement parts
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties
  • Develop and implement a laundry program to ensure efficient operation of laundry services
  • Coordinate with housekeeping staff to ensure the community is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Develop and maintain a budget for maintenance and repair activities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and fire regulations, as well as federal, state, and local building codes
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required; technical certificates in mechanical, electrical, carpentry, or HVAC preferred
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience in a similar position within the building trades
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak the English language
  • Ability to work closely with housekeeping and laundry personnel to provide direction
  • Ability to work with residents and/or families to ensure the provision of acceptable laundry services
  • Ability to work with community personnel to determine housekeeping needs
  • Ability to work with other community staff and vendors as needed
