Histotechnician I

Bassett Medical Center is seeking a skilled Histotechnician I to join our team in the Clinical Laboratory Department. As a Histotechnician I, you will play a critical role in preparing and processing tissue samples for examination and testing.

• Prepare tissue samples for examination and testing, following established protocols and procedures.
• Perform manual and automatic staining procedures, as well as quality control processes, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, reagents, and supplies, as well as documentation and records.
• Follow all institution and department policies and procedures, as well as maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Review work of students, as assigned, and perform other duties as requested by supervisor or manager.

• 2-year/Associate degree in a related field, required.
• Qualification as a Histotechnician or Clinical Laboratory Technician, in accordance with New York State Department of Health Regulations, required.
• Licensure by NYS SED as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Histotechnician, or licensure eligible with a limited permit or limited license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Histotechnician, required.

This position requires occasional lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, and stooping, as well as frequent typing, clerical, and dexterity activities. The work environment is a clinical laboratory setting, with occasional exposure to chemical and mechanical hazards, as well as bodily fluids and bloodborne pathogens.
