About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our Clean Technology Systems division at Dürr Systems Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for generating and managing concepts, mechanical sketches, and drawings required to effectively bid, fabricate, install and/or commission various types of paint finishing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) systems to create 2D and 3D drawings
  • Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs
  • Apply SMACNA general air handling system calculations to determine proper duct and component sizes and configurations
  • Travel to local customer sites and participate in field measurements
  • Maintain project schedules
  • Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
  • Attend and contribute to design review meetings
  • Interpret mechanical drawings
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • Experience with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic piping
  • Experience with sheet metal and structural steel design and welding codes
  • Experience with combustion systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
  • Strong skills in math and geometry
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
  • Proficient in the use of Solidworks
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Good communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Self-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
Physical Demands

While performing duties of the job, the incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
