Job Summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a skilled Fabrication Specialist to join our team. As a Fabrication Specialist, you will be responsible for fabricating covers and blankets for equipment according to site specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate covers and blankets using sewing machines and/or hog ring guns
• Cut various types of material from original bolts to prepare for sewing
• Apply rivets and grommets and other types of fasteners as per client specifications
• Transport material needed for fabrication from storage areas
• Pack finished products in bundles or boxes and label orders for delivery to customers
• Store items at ground level or on shelves
• Read order specifications and label completed orders in writing or using computers
• Utilize basic math skills to perform sewing and cutting according to specifications
• Communicate with others regarding job tasks and work procedures
• Follow safety regulations and specifications regarding handling of materials and operation of equipment

Requirements

• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
• Apply shop mathematics to solve problems
• Plan work and select proper tools
• Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects
• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings
• Make decisions based on measurable criteria
• Work at heights without fear

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Works under immediate supervision
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment

Physical Requirements

• Strength: Standing 60%, Walking 20%, Sitting 20%
• Lifting 50 lb.
• Carrying 50 lb.
• Pushing 70 ft-lb.
• Pulling 70 ft-lb.
