Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Worker III to join our team at the City of Portland. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance work on City streets and sidewalks, as well as during winter operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a wide range of light and heavy construction equipment efficiently and safely
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Work effectively in a team environment and establish positive relationships with colleagues and the public
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer inquiries
  • Work in all elements of weather and be willing to work mandatory overtime during winter periods
  • Hold a valid Maine Class B driver's license and maintain a good driving record
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of construction equipment and operating methods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Good visual acuity and physical strength, agility, and stamina necessary for the demands of the job
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public
