Exciting Opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technologist
We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Labcorp in Tampa, FL. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specimen Acceptance: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Technical Procedures: Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Instrumentation: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Reagent Preparation: Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Test Reporting: Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
- Quality Control: Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Supply Management: Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Micro Specimen Processing: Assist with processing of micro specimens when needed.
- Safe Work Environment: Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
- Certification: Florida State Medical Technologist (MT) and ASCP, AMT, or ABB certification (must also be able to pass a standardized color vision screening).
- Skills: Ability to work independently and within a team environment, high level of attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills.
