The Roll-Off Driver is tasked with the safe and efficient collection of waste materials, ensuring courteous service to clients across various sectors. This role involves transporting waste from collection points to designated disposal facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a roll-off truck along specified routes to collect, exchange, or deliver containers.
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete necessary documentation.
- Engage with customers and the public, addressing inquiries and reporting any issues to management.
- Maintain cleanliness around the truck and collection area to uphold safety and customer satisfaction.
- Keep accurate records of daily operations, including DOT logbooks and vehicle condition reports.
- Skillfully maneuver the truck in tight spaces, utilizing mirrors for safe navigation.
- Utilize maps and GPS technology to locate service addresses effectively.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including DOT and OSHA standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B required.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- At least one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
- Ability to meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
- Proven capability to operate the truck and related equipment safely.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of truck mechanics and basic maintenance requirements.
- Ability to maneuver the vehicle in confined spaces with precision.
- Skill in identifying hazardous waste materials.
- Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents and maps.
- Capability to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and pursue continuous improvement.
- Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds using proper techniques.
- Coordination to manage multiple limbs while performing driving tasks.
- Commitment to following all safety policies and procedures.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to perform various physical activities, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Visual acuity for close and distant vision, as well as depth perception.
- Capacity to regularly lift/move weights of varying degrees.
- Driving may require prolonged periods of sitting.
- Ability to work in loud environments.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
- Regularly working in high-traffic areas.
- Potential exposure to loud noises and hazardous materials.
