Job Summary: As an Infusion Nurse with UnitedHealth Group Inc., you'll be part of a dynamic team that delivers high-quality care and education to patients receiving parenteral medications from our ambulatory infusion suite or home environment. You'll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective administration of infusion therapies, adhering to company policies, procedures, and therapy-specific protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients receiving parenteral medications
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless delivery of care services
  • Provide education to patients and caregivers on self-care and medication administration
  • Assess patient appropriateness for infusion therapy, including safety assessments of the home environment and caregiver support
  • Document patient medical histories, particularly as related to diagnoses being treated with prescribed infusion therapies
  • Participate in case conferences to comprehensively plan patient care with the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide skilled care to patients of varying ages and medical conditions, following physician orders and the plan of treatment
  • Establish, secure, and maintain vascular access devices as prescribed, including peripheral IV placement, PICC and tunneled central venous catheter dressing changes, and implanted port access
  • Administer medications as prescribed, performing therapy-specific clinical assessments in accordance with company policies and protocols
  • Communicate patient response observations and overall physical assessment/condition with the care team in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • Active and unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) of Texas
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to starting employment
  • 1+ years of experience working as an RN in a clinical care setting contributing to proficiency in infusion therapy
  • Proficient with electronic medical record documentation
  • Ability to work independently in home or alternate site settings
  • Flexibility to assume a flexible work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience administering infusion therapy in a home or alternate-site setting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (EMR) programs
  • Familiarity with Infusion Nursing Society standards of practice, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of HIPAA patient privacy and data security requirements, OSHA employee protection regulations, and The Joint Commission's accreditation standards for home health and home infusion pharmacy
