Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hour

Under the general supervision of the Director, Building Principal, and Lead Custodian, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment in the school building. This includes following daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules, as well as performing additional duties as assigned.

• Follows and completes the school building's daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule, which includes:
  • Collecting and disposing of trash and recyclables
  • Disinfecting and cleaning trash cans and changing bags
  • Washing and sanitizing bathroom fixtures daily with germicidal solution
  • Wet mopping all washable floors daily, including kitchen, bathroom, office, and classroom areas
  • Washing and sanitizing windows and walls as scheduled or needed
• Vacuuming all carpeted areas
• Sweeping and clearing entrance spaces
• Dusting, washing, and sanitizing other surfaces as specified in the schedule
• Refilling paper towel, tissue, toilet paper, and hand soap in all dispensers
• Changing light bulbs as needed
• Reporting any health and safety hazards, such as the presence of animals, vermin, or insects, to the Director, Building Principal, and Lead Custodian
• Participating in emergency drills and environmental safety activities as requested
• Attending and participating in departmental and school building in-service trainings

Exemplary attendance and punctuality are required for this position. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and training in the custodial field. Experience in the custodial field is desirable but not necessary. The ability to learn proper cleaning methods and effective verbal communication skills are essential.

This position involves standing for long periods, as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and climbing. The ability to work a flexible schedule and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions is required. Wearing of protective equipment, such as latex gloves, is necessary in accordance with OSHA regulations.
