Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to work with families in a home-based setting, providing personalized instruction, demonstrations, and research-based materials to promote child development, parent-child interaction, and family well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with assigned families to provide personal instruction and demonstrate educational activities
  • Administer child developmental screenings, including vision, hearing, language, fine and gross motor skill development, social and emotional, and health and physical development
  • Conduct supervised visits in a parent-child interaction capacity with families working towards reunification
  • Implement the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum and summarize visits for the Erie County Office of Children and Youth
  • Provide support to families at court hearings and in the community
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood or a related human service or social services field (preferred)
  • 1-3 years of work experience supporting, collaborating, and goal planning with children and families
  • 1-3 years working through the reunification process, familiarity with the courts and Erie County Office of Children and Youth policies and procedures
Additional Requirements
  • Criminal Record History Clearance, FBI, and Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter training
  • Valid PA Driver's License
  • Physical exam and drug screening
Work Environment

The Parent Educator will work in a home-based setting, visiting families in their homes, as well as in a center-based setting. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to physical requirements, and interact with a diverse population of individuals and families is essential.
