Job Overview
The selected engineer will join a dedicated team focused on advancing tool development and gaining insights into semiconductor fabrication machinery through the modeling and simulation of RF systems and Multiphysics phenomena related to low-temperature process plasmas.
Key Responsibilities
We seek a candidate with a solid foundation in plasma physics, electromagnetics, gas dynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow, along with experience in computational plasmas, electromagnetic modeling, numerical methods, and chemical reaction kinetics.
- Responsible for modeling, numerical analysis, and simulation to address Lam's most challenging plasma processing issues.
- Utilize knowledge of fundamental physics and cutting-edge modeling and simulation techniques to guide tool design through concept feasibility, root cause analysis, and optimization studies.
- Develop plasma models and validation techniques to enhance model accuracy and predictability as needed for Lam's applications.
- Leverage commercial and open-source codes and create scripts to conduct simulations efficiently.
- Employ machine learning, data science, and optimization methods to amplify the effectiveness of plasma models.
- Collaborate with teams of experts across various disciplines to identify and resolve issues while effectively communicating technical insights to diverse audiences.
- Establish best practices and workflows for simulating recurring challenges in plasma processing.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering, with experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Computational plasmas and numerical methods.
- Fluid dynamics, molecular gas dynamics, heat and mass transfer, and reactive flows.
- Programming and machine learning.
Experience with laboratory data utilization and experimental analysis is essential. This position is open to candidates with prior industry experience, post-doctoral researchers, scientists, and recent graduates.
