Health Sensing HW Engineer

Role Overview

The Health Sensing team at Apple conceives, designs, develops, and launches innovative health sensing technologies for future products. This role is part of a highly collaborative environment where you will work closely with various teams across the company.

Responsibilities

As a Health Sensing HW Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality electrical health sensing features for Apple's products. Your main tasks will include:
  • Conducting architecture design, simulation, modeling, board-level circuit, and system design for health sensing products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Reviewing schematics, layout, and other design collateral for fabrication.
  • Developing analysis and modeling tools for hardware performance, performing complex system-level tests, enhancing and resolving issues in existing products, and performing unit testing and end-to-end testing.
  • Collecting and processing environmental and physiological data from users to draw conclusions and predict performance of new designs and components based on simulation and modeling tools.
  • Translating feature requirements into electrical hardware specifications and validating performance against specifications.
  • Driving the development of components and modules to meet pre-defined specifications, analyzing and leveraging manufacturing data to improve quality and minimize defects, and driving failure analysis to understand root-cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Authoring evaluation plans, technical documentation such as Engineering Requirements Specification (ERS), and aiding in bring-up to deliver scalable solutions to support Apple mass production in a high-quality way.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Hands-on experience and a proven track record in design, debug, and test of mixed-signal or sensing systems.
  • A strong background in one or more of the following areas: sensor interface circuit/system architecture, analog/mixed signal circuit design, simulation/modeling of electrical circuits, board/flex design for sensitive systems, data processing, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in writing, debugging, and maintaining code to analyze data from electrical systems or user studies.
  • Proficiency in Python, Matlab, SPICE, or similar simulation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as solid teamwork.
  • BS and a minimum of 3 years of relevant proven experience.

What We Offer

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and contributions. You will also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
