We are seeking an experienced Aquatics Department Manager to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Boston.

About the Role

This is a full-time position responsible for the supervision and management of all facets of the Aquatics Department at the branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing aquatic programs that reflect community needs and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and caring.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Program Development and Management: Develop and implement aquatic programs such as Lifeguarding; Parent & Child, Preschool, Youth, Private, and Adult Lessons; Family Swim Programs; Rentals and Pool Parties; and Competitive and Precompetitive Swim Programs.
  2. Safety and Risk Management: Ensure that pools meet all health and safety standards, including a clean environment, appropriate air and water temperature, chemical balance, and timely pool water testing and backwashing.
  3. Staff Supervision and Training: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all paid and volunteer instructors and lifeguards as programs dictate and budget guidelines allow.
  4. Aquatics Team Collaboration: Be an active participant of the Association Aquatics Team and follow all Aquatics Quality and Safety guidelines consistently.
  5. Documentation and Reporting: Complete all required safety and quality documentation and drills on required timelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of experience in instruction and management of a wide variety of Aquatics programs and pool maintenance.
  • Experience supervising staff and developing pool schedules and class schedules.
  • YMCA Lifeguarding certification and ability to obtain YMCA certification within six months of hire.
Benefits
