Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Runner to join our team at SLS South Beach in Miami. As a Food Runner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient service of all food to our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of food from the kitchen to assigned table stations and other areas as needed.
  • Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service by assisting and supporting the wait staff.
  • Run food to tables, using position numbers and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Receive food and place hot items in warmers and cold items in refrigerators.
  • Keep warmers and refrigerators clean throughout the shift.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide extra items, drinks, and condiments as needed.
  • Liaise with support staff to ensure effective communication about guest wants and needs.
  • Understand the order taken and any changes to the menu.
  • Aware of all upcoming orders and the status of tables expecting food.
  • Serve water and non-alcoholic beverages to guests and remove dirty dishes from tables.
  • Ensure the dining room is supplied with clean utensils, china, glassware, water, condiments, and other necessary items.
  • Assist the kitchen in expediting the service process to maintain a smooth flow of service throughout the dining room.
  • Perform side work duties assigned and maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant.
  • Responsible for taking, compiling, and delivering orders for in-room dining.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to two years of experience in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  • Exceptional personality and hospitality-driven attitude.
  • Gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high level of attention to detail.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for a minimum of eight hours.
  • Must be observant and quick to respond to various situations while multitasking and handling stressful situations.
  • Must be able to twist, tow, reach, bend, climb, and carry objects as necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based on business volumes.
Working Conditions

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The restaurant will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE.

Requires ability to lift large and heavy packages and boxes and to the ability to load and unload small and large boxes as needed. Must have ability to safely lift minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance and to push and pull up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment.

GROOMING/UNIFORMS

All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.
