Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

JLL is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Pontiac, MI. This UAW Mechanical position requires a strong focus on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment on all systems, including plumbing, HVAC, and building mechanical systems.
  • Monitor operation and maintain heating and cooling equipment, pressure boiler systems, heating and hot water equipment, pumps, valves, piping, and filters.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC systems, including critical supply air units, exhaust fans, and water coolers.
  • Routinely maintain, clean, and monitor conditions of assigned areas.
  • Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the building and critical support systems and components.
  • Must be able to immediately recognize system shortcomings, troubleshoot, and respond to operational and emergency situations.
  • Communicate with work order requestors to better understand their needs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Proficient computer skills necessary to operate a computer for general day-to-day work and communications.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a productive member of a team.
  • Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Complete all assigned JLL and Client required training and always complies with the established training standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate exemplary tenant relations and provide excellent customer service.
  • Write and maintain maintenance work orders and material or supply requisitions as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude with the ability and desire to learn, with 8 years of related work experience.
  • The ability to obtain certification to operate powered vehicular equipment, such as burden carriers, fork trucks, aerial lifts, etc.
  • Must possess a reasoning ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in routine situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • The ability to interpret maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and other documents and to safely operate all company equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties.
  • Both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing tools, equipment, and supplies weighing 25lbs or more.
  • Your work to be performed in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold.
  • Climbing ladders, using power and noise-producing tools/equipment, driving motorized vehicles, and heavy equipment.
  • Working in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often interruptions.
