Role Overview
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing procurement and purchasing processes in alignment with demand and quality standards, ensuring the seamless and cost-effective operation of our production activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee procurement and purchasing workflows for various products.
- Develop strategies to identify cost-effective suppliers and deals.
- Implement best practices to reduce procurement costs.
- Negotiate favorable terms with vendors.
- Plan and prioritize operations to optimize performance and minimize delays.
- Assess workforce, equipment, and raw material requirements to meet production demands.
- Allocate staff to specific production tasks.
- Schedule shifts based on production requirements.
- Monitor project timelines to ensure completion within budget.
- Address challenges promptly to minimize disruptions.
- Gather output data, including finished product counts and defect rates.
- Prepare and present status and performance reports.
- Maintain organized documentation.
- Collaborate with quality control, warehouse, and other departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of proven experience in production planning.
- Strong understanding of demand purchasing and quality control principles.
- Experience with MRP II (Manufacturing Resource Planning).
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
- Strong mathematical and statistical skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills.
- Commitment to quality and adherence to health and safety protocols.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate objects or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and communicate effectively. Occasionally, the employee must lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
