We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Estimating Director to oversee our electrical estimating department and lead staff in high voltage construction estimating activities.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven track record in construction estimating and management. They should be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

This role involves managing resources, improving estimating practices, and ensuring effective communication among departments to meet project goals. The successful candidate must have superior communication, management, and organization development skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the firm's estimating activities, including pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, and implementing/improving all estimating practices.
  • Performing functions inherent to a manager/supervisory position, such as directing, planning, organizing, and coordinating.
  • Conducting/attending project meetings/huddles to communicate project requirements.
  • Establishing timelines and estimating goals for effective and timely submittals.
  • Ensuring effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties.
  • Working closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve department objectives.

The candidate will also be responsible for developing department protocol for best estimating practices, reviewing/approving bids, specifications, drawings, and contracts, and informing preconstruction staff of project requirements and owner directives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A proven track record in high-level construction estimating, leadership, and mentoring.
  • Proven management experience, a history of leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully.
  • Solid presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • An understanding of contractual requirements, conceptual estimating, design drawings, and project specifications.
  • Familiarity with industry-leading estimating software.
  • Able to make decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Proven hands-on experience in estimating.
  • Ability to independently produce conceptual estimates.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
