About the Role

Forsyth County, NC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of General Services to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our General Services Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report on the financial and statistical activity of the General Services Department and County facilities, including budgets and Departmental accounting functions.
  • Analyze and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the Department's services and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide management, leadership, and professionalism through staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, and budgeting decisions and the provision of services from within the General Services Department.
  • Manage, supervise, coordinate, and oversee the operations of assigned Divisions as well as your own employee-specific responsibilities and outcomes.
  • Advise other departments on General Services financial and budgetary matters and direct the Department's division managers on situational matters and ongoing best practices to achieve desired outcomes and ensure compliance with County policies.
  • Occasionally advise County management and the Board of Commissioners on matters pertaining to facilities, property, and automotive assets and assume the duties of the Director in their absence.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in Public or Business Administration or a technical degree (Engineering or Architecture, etc.) supplemented with business-related coursework.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in operations management including budgeting, accounting, contract administration, and project management.
  • A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience including responsibility for hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees.
  • Experience overseeing day-to-day activities of at least one multi-person operational unit/division with ten or more employees.
  • A valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
