Linux System Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux System Administrator to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining our Linux servers in a VMware virtual environment.
Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading technology company that supports a large enterprise IT contract for the DOD. You will be working closely with other administrators to handle service inquiries and problems, and will be responsible for examining customer issues and suggesting corrective actions to initiate repairs or returns to service.
You will also analyze recurring problems and initiate solutions to prevent reoccurrence, as well as analyze existing infrastructure to identify opportunities for tuning and performance enhancements. Your duties will include providing systems and software operations and maintenance support in a large, multi-enclave enterprise environment.
As a team player, you will work collaboratively with your colleagues to ensure mission needs are met and capabilities are functional. You may be required to perform technical software configuration, rebooting, and other remedial actions on customer servers.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you must have a strong foundation in Linux administration, including experience with server operating systems such as CentOS, RHEL, or Ubuntu. You should also have familiarity with supporting virtual desktops running Linux, Microsoft Windows, and/or MacOS.
Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS or Azure, and Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts and solutions like Dell VXRail, is a plus. Experience with scripting and automation through Linux Shell scripts, PowerShell, PowerCLI, or other scripting languages is also highly desirable.
You should have excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently within an IT Service Management/ticketing system (ServiceNow). Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as well as a track record of working effectively within a team to improve processes and results.
Clearance RequirementsDue to the nature of the government contracts we support, US Citizenship is required. A TS/SCI with specific polygraph requirements or the ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph prior to start is also necessary.
Education and ExperienceA bachelor's degree with 6 years of prior relevant experience or a master's degree with 4 years of prior relevant experience is required. Years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
Compensation and BenefitsThe estimated salary range for this position is $72,150.00 - $130,425.00 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Leidos offers a competitive benefits package, including excellent pay, health insurance, retirement savings, and more.
