We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Resources for Human Development. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to our prescribers, collecting vital information from individuals, and coordinating medical records.
Key Responsibilities- Prior Authorizations: Process in a timely manner, working with prescribers and insurance companies to ensure individuals receive appropriate approval for medications.
- Medical Records: Support the medical records clerk in responding to requests for medical records in a timely manner.
- Administration of Medications: Ensure proper storage and tracking of all medications, including sample medications. Maintain accurate medication log and adhere to procedure for medication distribution and storage.
- Vital Signs: Take vital signs for each individual, communicate results to prescriber, and record vital signs in electronic health record.
- Maintain Proper Correspondence: Check printer, scans, faxes, and mail on regular intervals to retrieve correspondence and distribute as appropriate.
- Medical Waste: Ensure medical waste disposal is emptied regularly and that medical waste bins are being used appropriately.
- Assist Individuals with Prescription Needs: Fill prescriptions for non-controlled medications and assist with other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with an electronic health record preferred.
- Medical Assistant Certification (Certified Nursing Assistant Certification will be considered).
