Job Title: Healthcare Advocate

Community Service Society of New York is seeking a dedicated and experienced Healthcare Advocate to join our team. As a Healthcare Advocate, you will play a critical role in providing assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and representatives as they navigate the complex healthcare system.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide information, education, and advocacy services to clients on how to access healthcare services and navigate the healthcare system.
  • Represent clients in interactions with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address systemic barriers and advocate for policy changes that promote access to healthcare for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Collaborate with senior staff and other stakeholders to identify trends and best practices in healthcare advocacy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to ensure that clients receive high-quality care.
Requirements:
  • Graduate degree in law or a related field required.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families preferred.
  • Strong advocacy and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Salesforce database management skills preferred.
