Job Overview

Kiewit Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our Industrial Design Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems for industrial facilities, including chemical plants, mining/mineral processing, power, water/wastewater, processing plants, and advanced manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, design schematics, calculations, and conceptual designs, utilizing standard methods and project principles.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects.
  • Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners.
  • Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award.
  • Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans.
  • Perform ETP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies, and grounding integrity.
  • Utilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university and EIT license is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing Electrical engineering design for Industrial facilities.
  • Experience with ETAP simulation/analysis is required (or similar software).
  • Experience with SmartPlant, or similar software for design.
  • PE preferred, or willingness to obtain within a year.
  • Experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progression.
  • Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable.
