About the Role

International SOS is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Medical Services US Response Center team. As a key member of our 24/7 platform, you will provide medical advice and case management services to our clients and onsite medical professionals. This is a PRN opportunity for Baton Rouge-based Nurse Practitioners to work out of our local Response Center, covering approximately 4-6 shifts per month.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical due diligence and case direction for designated medical supervision cases
  • Assess medical elements of cases and provide direction for medical due diligence and supervision
  • Ensure medical handover of cases at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Help determine medical frequency and intensity of medical contacts with treating doctors, clients, patients, and their family members
  • Receive and assess medically related calls, collect logistical, medical, and collateral histories, and provide telephone/telehealth medical assessment of designated patients
  • Organize and supervise medical supervision for designated Intl. SOS clients, including obtaining medical reports, organizing referrals, monitoring patient conditions, and recommending medical transportation
  • Partake in the development and enhancement of Intl. SOS medical and logistic capabilities
Medical Liaison and Reporting
  • Collect medical information to produce focused professional medical reports
  • Communicate verbally and/or in writing to relevant parties/clients of patient progress and medical management recommendations
  • Undertake responsibility for medical information released from the Response Centre
  • Escalate cases as per Intl. SOS protocol to Medical Directors of the Response Centre
  • Maintain high standards for detailed and accurate documentation, including consistent updating of case files
Medical Quality Control
  • Support NAM Medical Management in Quality Control of Medical Cases being delivered at MedSites in USA
  • Ensure escalated cases are documented using the approved US RC Medical Records and Documentation system
  • Conduct intermittent MedSite surveys and audits on MedSites across the United States
  • Conduct random (virtual) case note reviews for MedSites
  • Support the team in writing procedures, protocols, and implementation as deemed necessary
Training
  • Organize and lead training of Health Care Professionals on MedSites with new processes and/or systems
  • Make a positive impact and significant contribution in onboarding of field Health Care Professionals going to industrial sites early in their career
  • Develop and implement industrial medicine, WIICM, and living conditions training package for new hires
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience with either Primary Care and/or Emergency Medicine
  • Working knowledge of the principles of Mid-Level health care and clinical practice
  • Post graduate certification from a recognized academic institution with a relevant work experience as a Mid-Level Health Care Provider
  • Valid ACLS & PHTLS certification or similar protocols
