The Position
As a key member of the Total Rewards Center of Excellence (CoE), you will be responsible for designing and executing the organization's compensation frameworks and initiatives to align with our goals regarding internal equity and external market competitiveness. These initiatives may encompass job classification; short-term, long-term, and sales incentive schemes; share/stock ownership plans; executive remuneration; retirement, and supplementary pension arrangements. Collaborate with functional or operational area leaders to formulate and implement localized compensation strategies that cater to their specific business requirements while remaining consistent with the overarching Total Rewards strategy of the organization. Conduct thorough analyses of external market data alongside internal metrics concerning the current workforce and future human resource needs to establish salary budgets and forecasts that align with the organization's Total Rewards strategy, emphasizing pay equity. Provide expert guidance to HR partners on the application of Total Rewards policies. As part of the global Rewards COE, support the development, execution, and localization of rewards initiatives, including strategy, processes, communications, and technology.
Relationships
This role reports to the Vice President of Total Rewards – North America. You will engage frequently with global and local HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition teams, Global Rewards and Mobility, GBS teams, and external vendors and consultants.
Essential Functions
- Implement competitive total rewards strategies and tools to attract, retain, and reward talent based on market trend analyses and comprehensive statistical evaluations.
- Oversee and facilitate the annual recurring processes across the region.
- Provide strategic guidance to specific functional areas; analyze market trends, conduct statistical studies, and develop actionable recommendations designed to attract, retain, and reward employees. Collaborate with external consultants to create tailored surveys when necessary.
- Assist in the annual market analysis of all positions to support the compensation planning process.
- Assess new and revised roles using market data; assign global job levels and ensure alignment within the global job architecture.
- Participate as an extended team member in expansions and departmental restructures.
- Offer advice and counsel to HR Business Partners and management on compensation-related matters, including the development of job descriptions and job families; provide direction regarding promotion increases, internal transfers, and new hire offers.
- Engage in or lead global Total Rewards & Mobility CoE projects and other initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies regarding fair and equitable pay positioning, transparency, and consistency.
- Actively participate in industry groups or advisory committees to stay informed on rewards-related topics within the pharmaceutical sector and maintain relevant certifications and credentials. Utilize insights to anticipate and prepare for future needs of assigned functional areas.
Physical Requirements
Some overnight travel may be required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree and/or CCP/GRP may substitute for two years of relevant experience when applicable.
- A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, preferably within Total Rewards functions.
- At least 3 years of compensation experience is required; experience in North American pharmaceutical compensation is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with compensation systems is preferred (e.g., Success Factors, Market Pay, SAP HR).
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in cross-functional team facilitation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of compensation theory, techniques, and practices; strong analytical and negotiation skills.
